"DREAM OF A FAR LIGHT" LAUNCHES!

After almost 30 years in the making, Barry's Dream of a Far Light song cycle has finally been recorded. Fans of Barry and Sally, or of Black Book Band, will recognize a number of the tracks, including the lovely "Lightsailor," but there's lots more! We put the finishing touches on the master disk on 5-5-08 with Rick Hajduk, our favorite studio engineer, and it's on its way to Groovehouse for production. We performed a selection of songs at Capricon, and we'll debut the whole thing at Marcon over Memorial Day Weekend. We're excited! See below for details on both gigs, and come join the fun!

AN INDIANAPOLIS GIG AT BROAD RIPPLE ART FAIR

This will be our first year at the Broad Ripple Art Fair and it's a great opportunity for our local fans to come see us in a great outdoor venue surrounded by wonderful art. It's at the Indianapolis Art Center and our set will be at 10:30 a.m. on May 17th.

MARCON DRAWS NEAR!

Our Marcon concert is going to be a one-of-a-kind experience. Not only is that weekend going to be our CD release celebration for "Dream of a Far Light", but Trace and the Marcon crew have been nice enough to give us a full 75-minute concert slot so we can do the Whole Darn Thing! We'll be performing the entire Far Light cycle, starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 24th. Our favorite fiddler, Amy McNally, will be joining us for the concert, Judy Miller will be bringing her lovely ASL interpretation to the performance, and Mark Peters will be manning the sound board. Immediately after us will be Marcon's Filk GOH concert performance by Alexander James, and there are lots of other great folks on the schedule for the weekend (Tom Smith, Riverfolk, and more!), so come join us in Columbus over Memorial Day weekend and be there for the Project Far Light launch!

CAPRICON ROCKED! ARRRRR!

Capricon is one of our favorite conventions, and this year's incarnation was pirate-themed, which made it even more fun. All of us had Internet Cafe sets, which went well and were well-attended, then the concert on Friday night was great! We did a full set of material from the Far Light project, including "Down at Hot Rod Blues," "Space Child Lullabye," "Lightsailor" and more. We actually finished early (how did that happen???), so we took requests and did "Queen of All Argyll," "Nottamun Town," and "Night that Paddy Murphy Died" which let us enjoy some more extemporaneous fiddle stylings from Amy McNally, who was with us for the concert. (She'll be on the CD and at Marcon too, so come see Wild Mercy Plus One!)
